A guide to cleaning previously-used ZEITDICE camera equipment to allow it to be re-deployed in a greenhouse. This is to reduce the risk of contamination from bacteria, algae or plant viruses.
- Do not immerse equipment in cleaning solution
- Do not direct strong jets of water at the equipment
- Do not use harsh abrasives or edged tools on the equipment
- Do not autoclave or steam-clean the equipment
- UV-C disinfection is not recommended
- Do not use corrosive cleaners
- Do not direct cleaning solutions into power connectors
- Allow equipment to dry before re-deploying
- Observe manufacturer’s safe handling instructions for all cleaning solutions, including correct use of personal protective equipment
- If these guidelines do not match your site’s sanitization / IPAC requirements, please contact ZEITDICE Inc before re-deployment
- For solar panel and camera power cable stub: 70% Isopropyl Alcohol Solution
- For camera enclosure and mount: Quaternary ammonium (quats)-based disinfectant product, suitably diluted or provided as a Ready To Use (RTU) spray
- After sanitization, camera glass: lens/glass cleaner and microfibre cloth (if required)
- All parts, preliminary
- Carefully remove and discard any loose, dry organic material (such as soil, plant matter, etc) from the part before wet cleaning
- Solar panel
p Wipe all surfaces with Isopropyl Alcohol solution using a soft cloth
p Allow to dry in free air
- Enclosure
p Take care not to damage/scratch glass panel in front of lens
p Wipe with a soft cloth dampened with quats-based solution
p The power cable stub should be cleaned as the solar panel, taking care not to get excess alcohol in the power plug
p Allow to dry in free air: do not rub with a dry cloth
p If necessary, clean the glass with a lens cleaner solution and microfibre cloth

p Wipe with a soft cloth dampened with quats-based solution
p Allow to dry in free air: do not rub with a dry cloth
ZEITDICE camera components are typically made of the following materials:
- Camera enclosure: polycarbonate, glass, PVC, stainless steel
- Solar panel: Silicone rubber, anodized aluminum, nitrile, ABS, stainless steel, nickel plated copper (power connector)
- Mount: epoxy powder-coated aluminum/magnesium alloy, powder-coated steel, stainless steel, elastomeric rubber, nylon, plated/coated steel (mounting screws)
